About the Role
Teach Fire Science courses online using D2L Brightspace and in person on the Oak Ridge and Knoxville - Hayfield campuses.
Responsibilities
- Instruction and student engagement
- Assessment and grading
- Student support and communication
- Adhere to institutional policies and procedures
- Utilize the Learning Management System, Brightspace
- Follow state and federal fire science guidelines
- Classroom, office, laboratory, and field-based instruction
- Demonstrate or supervise fire service skills
- Use of personal protective equipment during training evolutions
- Travel to training sites, fire departments, or partner agencies
- Evening or weekend instruction as needed
- Compliance with all safety standards during practical and live training activities
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in fire science or a related field
- Valid Tennessee Fire Commission - Fire Instructor II Certification
- Academy Credentialed Instructor (ACI) in Introduction to Fire and Emergency Services and Basic Firefighting
- Successful completion of the TN Fire Commission FO120-Conducting Live Fire Evolutions Class
- Familiarity with IAFC/NFPS 1010
