Teach Fire Science courses online using D2L Brightspace and in person on the Oak Ridge and Knoxville - Hayfield campuses.

Responsibilities

• Instruction and Student Engagement
• Assessment and Grading
• Student Support and Communication
• Adhere to Institutional policies and procedures
• Utilize the Learning Management System, Brightspace
• Follow state and federal fire science guidelines

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in fire science or a related field
• Hold a valid Tennessee Fire Commission - Fire Instructor II Certification
• Academy Credentialed Instructor (ACI) in Introduction to Fire and Emergency Services and Basic Firefighting
• Successful completion of the TN Fire Commission FO120-Conducting Live Fire Evolutions Class
• Be familiar with IAFC/NFPS 1010

• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Classroom, office, laboratory, and field-based instruction
• Physical ability to demonstrate or supervise fire service skills
• Use of personal protective equipment during training evolutions
• Travel to training sites, fire departments, or partner agencies
• Evening or weekend instruction as needed
• Compliance with all safety standards during practical and live training activities
