Adjunct Faculty English

About the role

MassBay Community College is seeking a part-time English faculty member to join the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. This position includes teaching a variety of in-person, first-year writing courses, including English Composition I and English Composition II.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person, first-year writing courses on Wellesley Hills, Framingham, or Ashland campuses, as assigned
• Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course and program requirements and student learning outcomes for Graduation Competencies as appropriate
• Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate
• Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and the classroom

Requirements

• Master’s degree in English or a related field
• A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent part-time experience, teaching writing

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively

• Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need
• Community College teaching experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to working with English language learners, adult learners, and at-opportunity students
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement a curriculum that develops the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills of students and to use culturally responsive and inclusive perspectives
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning
• Demonstrated interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning
