Adjunct Faculty, English as a Second Language
About the Role
Adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing available staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies that complement teaching. The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. While teaching is the primary role, faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support learners.

Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning.
- Develop and submit course outlines, syllabi, and lesson plans aligned with approved objectives.
- Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
- Hold office hours and provide student consultation.
- Assist with advising, orientation, registration, and student recruitment.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and learning.
- Participate in service activities, including campus and college committees, assessment, program review, and mentoring peers.
- Represent the college professionally in the community and promote a positive public image.
- Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
- Adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College.
- May require travel and evening and/or weekend hours.
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, or marketing for business positions).
- Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct teaching experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
- Strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational and communication skills, and customer-oriented attention to detail.
- Ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward established goals and deadlines.
- Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
- Must perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Skills
- Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience.
- Proficiency in general office skills (filing, typing, phone etiquette).
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to supervise student employees (if applicable).
Working Conditions
- Constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving.
- Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of hands/arms for reaching and finger movements.
- Constant written and oral communication, with occasional analytical and calculation tasks.
- Daily use of computers and standard office equipment; occasional vehicle operation.
