Adjunct Faculty, Early Childhood Education & Teaching - BAS

Purpose and Scope

The responsibility of the teaching faculty is to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community.

Essential Job Functions

• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
• Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
• Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
• Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
• Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Education or a closely related field, such as Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading/Literacy, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related discipline.
• OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in education or an education-related field aligned to the course content.
• Minimum of three (3) years of PK-12 teaching or instructional experience in early childhood, elementary, special education, literacy or related educational settings.

Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
