Adjunct Faculty, Early Childhood Education Clinical Field Supervisors - Department of Early Childhood, Elementary Education & Clinical Foundations
About the role
The College of Education at Rowan University is seeking adjunct faculty members to serve as clinical field supervisors for the Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education programs. This is a part-time per credit appointment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a mentor and provide feedback to teacher candidates in schools.
- Observe teacher candidates and conduct 2 observations for candidates in two-day placements and 5 observations for candidates in five-day placements.
- Visit schools within a certain geographic area of interest, including Atlantic, Cumberland, Mercer, Ocean, and Salem counties.
- Ensure candidates meet state licensure requirements for teachers, P3 or K-6.
- Build positive relationships with candidates and cooperative teachers, schedule meetings, and communicate proactively.
- Participate in service initiatives at the program department, college, and university levels.
- Demonstrate a constructivist-based theoretical framework centered on a philosophy grounded in social justice.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field from an accredited institution.
- In-person availability during school hours is mandatory.
- Experience with the Danielson Framework, performance assessment measures, and online portfolio systems preferred.
- Training in coaching and mentoring teachers.
- Ability to supervise in Atlantic, Cumberland, Mercer, Ocean, and Salem counties, with other counties also welcome.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in P-12 settings.
- Meet state licensure requirements for teachers, P3 or K-6.
- Eager and proactive in building positive relationships with candidates and cooperative teachers.
- Proactive communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice.

Pay
The University provides a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year. Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.
