About the Role

Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to teach graduate-level Computer Information Systems courses in a hybrid format for the upcoming fall quarter, starting October 5th. This hybrid role involves both in-person and asynchronous online instruction. The position requires 11 in-person sessions (2 hours each) per week at a predetermined time, with the remainder of the course delivered online. Adjunct Faculty serve as instructors, coaches, and mentors, fostering a strong faculty-student relationship and building a community in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses using a pre-designed curriculum while leveraging professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.
  • Enhance curriculum effectiveness through technology and multimedia resources.
  • Arrive on-campus at least 30 minutes prior to in-person sessions each week.
  • Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience for the online component of the course.
  • Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to provide timely feedback and support academic success.
  • Establish and communicate high academic standards, including clear evaluation criteria.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Attend faculty meetings, workshops, or training as required.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, IT Security, Computer Security, or Forensic Management.
  • ISC2 SSCP or other ISC2 certification.
  • Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience (strongly preferred).
  • Ability to travel weekly to the required campus location.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with academic evaluation methods.
  • Excellent oral presentation, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and work in a typical office setting with mobility requirements (e.g., movement between floors).
  • Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week when necessary.

Pay

  • $2,300–$2,600 per online course assignment per quarter.
  • $3,000 per on-campus course assignment per quarter.
  • Compensation varies based on the number and type of courses taught.
