About the Role
Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE's online programs. The role of the faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing students to derive the maximum benefits from the program. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Science Prerequisites for the Health Professions (SPHP) Program.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert and graduate-level knowledge in Biology I
- Guide students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours
- Engage in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week
- Host a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week
- Demonstrate excellent collaborative and communication skills
- Analyze and apply best practices in online Biology I education
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biology (or similar) – PhD preferred
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in Biology
- Experience teaching online in an educational setting
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment
- Passion for teaching Biology and motivating students in academic and professional settings
- Willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education
- Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management system preferred
