Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses (may include daytime, evening, weekend, online or off-campus components)
  • Practice active and experiential learning strategies
  • Join in assessment of student academic achievement at classroom, department, and college level
  • Participate in the departmental and college communities through a variety of activities (e.g., curriculum development, service on committees, student life activities, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree with a major in field or Master's Degree with a minimum of 16 graduate semester credits (24 graduate quarter credits)
  • Preferred Qualifications: Ph. D. in field, Possesses strong discipline expertise, Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level, Student-centered, Enthusiastic about and committed to teaching and learning in the community college, Ability to work with a diverse student body that has a broad range of interests and abilities, Willingness to explore and use a variety of technology to enhance teaching and student learning, Demonstrated familiarity with the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college

Supplemental Information

  • Salary Range: Starting ANNUAL FULL-TIME salary (based on education and experience) will range from $33,500 to $68,500; however, actual salary placement is contingent upon completion of MnSCU's salary placement process and the number of credits assigned per term (YOUR ASSIGNMENT IN THIS POSITION IS LIKELY TO BE FAR LESS THAN FULL TIME).
  • If you are assigned to teach 4 or fewer credits during the Fall or Spring terms (or 3 or fewer during the Summer term) you will be paid a flat rate of $1,200 per credit. The assignment of the number of credits to be taught is solely at the descretion of the Dean or the Department Chair, according to the needs of the College.
  • An assignment of 5 or more credits in one term does not guarantee that an equal or greater number of credits will be assigned in subsequent terms.
  • Benefits are available for part time faculty who teach 6 credits or more in two consecutive semesters. Such eligibility starts at the beginning of the second semester.
