About the role

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided; making optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods; developing/maintaining course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintaining accurate student records, grades, and other requirements; engaging with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leading to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College; showing evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning; interacting with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner; complying with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations; ensuring knowledge of and implementing emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Show evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Comply with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Requirements

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.

Qualifications

A qualified faculty member in anatomy and physiology meets the discipline standard through one of two routes: Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.

Skills

Knowledge of and ability to implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
