About the role

Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective in-person instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis and may be assigned day, evening, or weekend laboratory and a clinical setting at local clinical agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches primarily in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings according to the course document
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Selects learning experiences that facilitate student attainment of course and clinical student learning outcomes
  • Selects clinical assignments that correlate with and reinforce learning from the classroom concepts and provide students the ability to apply their knowledge in nursing care situations
  • Supervises and evaluates student clinical performance
  • Maintains clinical experience records and grades in accordance with institutional and departmental policies
  • Supervises use of laboratory equipment safely and proficiently, and leaves the lab neat and restocked upon completion of lab time
  • Provides students with opportunity for evaluation of teaching effectiveness
  • Aids with ongoing curriculum implementation and evaluation
  • Remains up to date on technology and methods of teaching and learning
  • Completes annual clinical and agency requirements
  • Contributes to the development of course content
  • Attends course team meetings, professional meetings, and community activities, as assigned
  • Models professional and ethical nursing behaviors

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Unofficial transcripts, resume or C.V., and RN licensure number information must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application.
  • If your transcripts are not submitted, your application may not receive full consideration.
  • A current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
  • Must be able to complete the educational requirements of the Board of Nursing within three years of hire
  • Must have two (2) calendar year prior full-time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse and must have nursing practice experience in assigned clinical area
  • Preferences: Master of Science in Nursing and teaching experience in a program at or above the level of associate degree nursing
