Position Summary

The School of STEM at Avila University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors for the Biological Sciences.

Responsibilities

Avila University needs adjunct instructors for multiple part-time appointments. Teaching responsibilities will include:

  • Lectures and/or labs for Introductory Biology (e.g. Cells, Genes, Ecology, Evolution, Environmental Science, Organismal Biology)
  • Conduct all class sessions according to the assigned schedule
  • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught
  • Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience
  • Work effectively with the program Chair and/or the Laboratory Manager
  • Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities or a Master's degree in another area with 18 credit hours of discipline graduate coursework from an accredited university/college
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred)
  • Multilingual skills highly preferred
  • Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work

Pay

Stipend based on the credit hours assigned and previous teaching experience.
