About the role
The Department of Biology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites outstanding applicants for an adjunct position to teach BIO 211: Cell Biology and Biochemistry during the Fall 2026 semester starting on August 25, 2026.
This course is an introduction to the nomenclature, origin, and function of essential molecules, biochemical pathways, and cellular components of living organisms, presented in the context of evolution. Laboratory activities emphasize the fundamental tools and approaches used, including biochemical techniques and microscopy, to ask questions about protein function at the cellular level, as explored with the scientific method.
The course is scheduled for Tuesday and Friday 8:00am – 9:20am (lecture) with labs on Tuesday and Friday from 9:30am – 12:20pm.
Responsibilities
- Teach BIO 211: Cell Biology and Biochemistry
- Present course materials, including lectures and laboratory activities
- Engage students using the scientific method to explore protein function at the cellular level
- Collaborate with the course and lab coordinator to ensure consistency in curriculum
- Utilize appropriate laboratory equipment and techniques to support student learning
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Biology or a related field
- Experience teaching cell biology and biochemistry at the college level
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
