Adjunct - AY27 Nursing, Vocational Nursing Instructor

About the role
The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time Adjunct Vocational Nursing Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting establishes a pool of qualified applicants for future openings. Successful candidates will collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators, with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Registered Nursing (ADN) with six years of experience and a teaching course from a higher education school (see details below).
- OR Master’s degree in Registered Nursing.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Registered Nursing and:
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five years, which can be met by:
- One year of continuous full-time (or equivalent) experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area.
- One academic year of registered nurse-level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or equivalent, demonstrating clinical competency, and at least one year of experience teaching nursing-related courses.
- A current California RN License.
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five years, which can be met by:
- Teaching Course: Certificate of Completion from a higher education school or school transcript. The course must include adult education modalities. If unclear, provide the course description from the school’s catalog. Note: A Director of Staff Development (DSD) course or courses from non-BVNPT-approved continuing education institutions do not qualify.
- Verification of Experience letters on official letterhead, including:
- Inclusive dates of assignments.
- Full-time or part-time status (if part-time, specify hours worked per week/semester/year).
- Duties performed.
Desirable Qualifications
- Strong background in Medical-Surgical Nursing.
- Strong background in Mother-Baby Nursing, including postpartum care, newborn assessment, lactation support, and family-centered education.
- Teaching experience in an accredited/approved vocational/practical nursing program, psychiatric technician program, or registered nursing program within the last six years. Exclude CNA, DSD, or hospital-based educator experience.
- Eligibility for approval by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) as faculty.
Responsibilities
- Teach part-time nursing theory and/or clinical courses.
- Design varied, interactive learning environments to facilitate student learning.
- Collaborate with staff and administrators to create innovative educational experiences, fostering a partnership with students in learning.
- Assist in program planning, peer evaluation, and educational project development.
- Participate in personal and professional growth activities, including professional development.
Pay
The salary for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
