The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States, comprising nine colleges serving over 40 cities in Southern California. LACCD offers instruction to 225,000 students annually in 600 associate degree and 400 certificate programs.

About the Role

The LACCD is accepting applications for part-time Adjunct Counselor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting establishes a pool of qualified applicants for potential openings across LACCD’s nine colleges. Applicants may indicate their preferred colleges during the application process and may be invited for interviews at one or more campuses. Final assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and availability.

Qualifications

• Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
• A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

• All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption, as per LACCD Board of Trustees’ Policy 2900.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive academic advisement and counseling services to a diverse student population.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from varied backgrounds, including differences in language, nationality, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, identity, ability, and educational experience.

Pay

Adjunct instructors are compensated at a starting rate of $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
