About the role
LACCD is accepting applications for part-time Computer Science Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting establishes a pool of qualified applicants for future openings at any of LACCD’s nine colleges. Applicants may indicate their preferred college(s) during the application process. Final assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering AND Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering mathematics, or business administration; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s in information science, computer information systems, or information systems; OR
- The equivalent.
A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses offered in the Computer Science discipline, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Faculty may be required to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other remote learning methods.
Skills
Preference may be given to applicants with demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas, Course Compass, or other online teaching modalities.

Pay
The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments.
Eligibility Requirements
- A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant’s expense after selection and prior to employment.
- All students and employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption, per LACCD Board of Trustees’ Policy 2900. Newly hired employees must provide their vaccination status prior to or by their start date.
