About the Role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions in Biological Sciences with a Physiology emphasis for the 2027 Academic School Year. Responsibilities

  • Teach any of the Biological Sciences - Physiology classes offered, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators as a professional.
  • Be prepared to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other remote learning methods.

Requirements

  • Master's in any biological science; OR
  • Bachelor's in any biological science AND Master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; OR
  • The equivalent.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work (at applicant's expense prior to employment).
  • Compliance with LACCD's COVID-19 vaccination policy or approved exemption.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications outlined above. Demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas, Course Compass, or other online modalities may be given preference.

Compensation

The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
