Adjunct - AY27 Art Instructor, Studio Art
About the role
The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) seeks dynamic and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions in Studio Art. This posting creates a pool of qualified applicants for Adjunct Art Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year.
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of courses within the Art - Studio Art discipline.
- Create engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
- Collaborate, communicate, and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Teach one or more of the following areas: drawing, painting, ceramics, 2-D / 3-D design, sculpture, life drawing, and printmaking.
- Engage in professional activities through exhibitions and presentations.
- Teach online courses and use technology effectively.
- Follow specific learning outcomes and objectives.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for all students, including those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Organize and manage course materials and schedules efficiently.
Requirements
- Master's in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor's in any of these fields AND Master's in humanities OR equivalent.
- Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent academic record indicating a strong background in Art.
- Commitment to maintaining a current knowledge of recent developments in Art.
- Experience teaching Art in a community college or other college setting.
- Demonstrated professional activity through exhibitions and presentations.
- Experience or interest in web-enhancing and/or teaching online courses.
- Ability to follow specific learning outcomes and objectives.
- Commitment to teaching in a diverse, student-centered department and college, along with an interest in equity-centered education that supports the success of Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and other students of color.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience or interest in web-enhancing and/or teaching online courses.
- Experience or interest in Blackboard, Canvas, or Course Compass or other online modalities.
- Experience or interest in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
- Experience or interest in teaching diverse populations.
- Experience or interest in creating engaging and inclusive educational environments.
Pay
The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
Schedule
Adjunct instructors may be required to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning.
