About the Job

The Maternal Newborn Nursing Affiliate Faculty teach nursing students in the specialty of maternal newborn nursing. The Maternal Newborn Affiliate coordinates and collaborates with lead course faculty to teach, supervise and evaluate students in simulation and practice settings by providing excellence in instruction, clinical judgement, critical thinking and clinical reasoning. The Maternal Newborn Affiliate may serve in the role of Teaching Assistant in the classroom setting. Affiliate faculty are hired on a course by course basis as needed. This position does not have rank or benefits.

Job Location

Fully on-site - must reside and work legally in the U.S. Regular work location: Lakewood, Colorado

Key Job Duties

  • Teaches, supervises and evaluates nursing students during clinical and/or simulation experiences
  • Attends all course orientations provided by the lead course faculty, grades and submits student clinical/simulation performance documents in a timely manner as required for the course
  • During most eight-week blocks in the pre-licensure BSN program, teaches four-five weeks of simulation and/or four weeks of clinical
  • Affiliates assess student achievement of course outcomes related to professional nursing practice
  • Affiliates assist with classroom management and/or grading of course assignments
  • Affiliates integrate biblical principles and concepts into student experiences for professional practice
  • Affiliates assist students in their own self-evaluation and spiritual formation
  • Affiliates provide feedback to the standing nursing faculty on the course, clinical competencies, student learning modalities, simulation scenarios and clinical site
  • Affiliates maintain nursing competence in the area of specialty

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God
  • Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace
  • Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University
  • Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church
  • Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education
  • Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University

Pay

Affiliate Faculty pay is typically $400-$600 per credit hour for undergraduate classes and $1,000 per credit hour for graduate level classes. Details regarding payment for low-enrolled courses are included in course contracts.
