About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervising students in the clinical setting;
  • Guidance in completing assignments such as daily clinical worksheets, concept maps, and care plans;
  • Knowledge of Medication card system, and conducting student evaluations;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field;
  • Integrates didactic content into the student(s) clinical assignment.
  • Communicate with course faculty regularly to track student progress or to develop performance improvement plans to support student learning;
  • Responsible for conducting the mid-semester and final clinical evaluations;
  • Assigns, supervises, plans experiences, and evaluates students in practice learning environments based on course and program student learning outcomes;
  • Provides support, guidance, and instruction on all aspects of patient care while at the clinical facility or laboratory classroom;
  • Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory nursing settings;
  • Provide feedback to the assistant dean of nursing, program director, and clinical placement coordinator on the appropriateness of the health care agency in terms of teaching/learning environments for students;
  • Provides feedback to the course faculty on student preparedness regarding curriculum;
  • Attend course-specific orientation on campus with the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty;
  • Participate in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty;
  • Participate in the Program’s continuous improvement efforts, which include BORN and ACEN requirements;
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSN for Practical Nursing and MSN for Associate Degree Nursing;
  • A minimum of two years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area(s) of clinical instruction;
  • Clinical teaching experience;
  • Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
  • Recent clinical practice in relevant areas: Labor and Delivery and Postpartum unit;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of faculty, staff, and student body.
