Adj. Inst., Field Placement Supervisor

Position Overview

The School of Education is looking to hire a part-time university supervisor to supervise students in the field over the course of the fall 2026 semester in the subjects of Social Studies and English.

Course Description

This undergraduate/graduate level course serves students in our teacher education program.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observe field students in person three times each in classroom-based setting.
• Evaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods and School of Education program evaluation system.
• Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning student accountability, attendance, and performance.
• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
• Provide individual consultation and feedback to assigned field students.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree and certification in the subject matter and grade level(s) to be supervised.
• At least three years of K-12 teaching experience.
• Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.
• Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.
• Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.
• Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be supervised, including current instructional and assessment strategies and techniques.
• Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K-12 school personnel and students.
