Addiction Counselor/Trainee

Job Details

Counsel consumers, individually and in group sessions at least 4 times a week, to support them in their journey of overcoming addiction, adjusting to life, and making positive changes.

• Provide individual sessions weekly.
• Complete and maintain accurate records about the patients' histories and progress, services provided, and other essential information.
• Collaborate with our other professionals to evaluate consumer needs and plan treatments.
• Conduct Intake Assessments/ASAM to determine the level of care.
• Develop treatment plans for consumers.
• Determine the consumer's strengths/weaknesses and needs to assist consumers in developing a treatment plan within 7 days of admission.
• Makes sure assigned consumer's progress toward the treatment plan is monitored and documented.
• Provides alcohol and drug education in counseling sessions and groups.
• Keeps consumer records up-to-date utilizing the EHR System.
• Ensures assigned consumers are given random urinalysis according to State and Federal guidelines.
• Ensures consumer confidentiality as regulated by Federal and State guidelines.
• Responsible for all counselor trainee work performances.
• Recruits 5 clients a month.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical skills.
• MUST HAVE CAC-AD OR ADT License (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LICENSE).
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• A working knowledge of computers including EHR.
• Knowledge of the established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders.
