Addiction Counselor

About the role

This position requires an Addiction Counselor to work onsite in Bronx, NY, providing full-time support to patients with substance use disorders. The role involves individual counseling, group facilitation, and collaboration with treatment teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, screenings, and crisis interventions
• Develop and implement treatment plans with clinical supervision
• Facilitate therapeutic groups
• Collaborate with treatment teams and make referrals to appropriate programs
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
• Provide patient and family support, including scheduling and accessing care

Requirements

• Experience managing a patient caseload with substance use disorders
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate, up-to-date documentation
• Strong collaboration skills with internal and external teams
• Experience in trauma-informed care approaches
• Experience in facilitating therapeutic groups

Qualifications

• Relevant certification or licensure in addiction counseling
• Experience in clinical consultation and patient engagement
• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment and recovery processes
• Experience in making referrals to appropriate treatment programs
• Strong communication skills for patient and family support
• Experience in psychoeducation and patient orientation
