Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) is seeking an experienced ADC Store Associate to join our dedicated team in Merrick, NY. Responsibilities
- Maintain production room standard operating procedures (SOP) for receiving, storing, and transporting donations to designated stores.
- Execute efficient and effective donation processing by performing rough sort of donations by category (e.g., textiles, housewares, shoes).
- Track and communicate rough sorted cage count per day productivity to Key holder.
- Support, understand, and adhere to Goodwill NYNJ Safety and IDC protocols; report any health and safety issues to your line manager.
- Partner with key holder to ensure all equipment is replenished as needed and store requests are fulfilled as scheduled.
- Engage all customers and donors, providing best-in-class customer experience.
- Share Goodwill NYNJ mission with donors, handle donations with care, and provide a donation receipt.
Daily Activities
- Donations: Greet customers and donors within 30 seconds with a friendly and positive attitude; offer to assist with donation if needed. Provide a receipt for donations and educate every customer about applicable literature. Keep the inside/outside of the donation area neat, clean, and organized. Thank every customer for their donation and invite them to return. Facilitate contactless donation process by ensuring blue bins/cages are set up directly inside the donations area and blank receipts are available for donors.
- Pushing to Stores: Prepare cages/bins of rough sorted goods for transport to designated stores.
Requirements
- 1 year of Retail or Customer Service Experience preferred.
- Previous Stock experience required.
- High School Diploma, equivalent, or combination of education/experience required.
- Proven ability to build lasting relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to adapt to and engage with different customers.
- Strong communication skills with customers, sales leadership team, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.
- Accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
