About the Role

Responsible and accountable for managing the operations of the Attended Donation Centers (ADCs) and its team members and donors in accordance with established business practices as mandated by the policies, procedures, and budget projections of Goodwill Houston (GWH). Ensures the assigned ADCs are adequately staffed, and team members are trained in category breakdown procedures, proper equipment usage, and all safety procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manages budget and maintains expenditures following the financial goals of GWH, departmental, and donation centers.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, motivate, and supervise all personnel to maintain and exceed GWH’s operational standards.
  • Ensure schedules and payroll are completed in a timely manner.
  • Comply with GWH’s policies, Donor Services standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Donor Acquisition Specialists are trained on how to properly:
    • Greet and assist donors and customers.
    • Safely assist with the loading/unloading trailers/trucks or any fleet equipment.
    • Sort donations to required breakdown standards.
  • Adhere to and enforce safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to personnel and damage to property, equipment, and inventory.
  • Prepare, submit, and review team member evaluations as policy directs.
  • Ensure accurate donor counts are being recorded via the data management system.
  • Monitor, order, inventory, and disperse supplies as needed and within budget guidelines.
  • Assist in resolving any donor, customer, or team member complaints or requests and partner with the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) on the next steps.
  • Monitor and maintain the overall appearance of the ADC, including the interior, exterior, housekeeping, and cleanliness of each assigned location.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all assigned ADC team members while fostering a productive work environment.
  • Maintain all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Regularly visit each site for policy and procedure compliance per the Goodwill Houston ADC Area Manager visit cadence SOP while working autonomously.
  • Attend all meetings and training as required by GWH and conduct monthly safety meetings/trainings with ADC team members as needed.
  • Provide regular and detailed updates or action plans to leadership when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising 30 or more employees and/or demonstrated success in an Assistant Store Manager position after completing GWH-assigned training.
  • Associate's degree or completion of related Retail Management coursework preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of minimum liability insurance.
  • Must be able to have a flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain electronic communication devices and be able to navigate.
  • Must be willing and able to adapt to growth and a changing environment within GWH.

  • Active with Zero hours TMs vs Goal (Zero (0) – 28+ days) (Assigned District)
  • Administration - Performance management/Goodwill LMS Training (Assigned District at <5%)
  • Safety – 95% quarterly safety metric score

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to continuously stand/walk for the shift, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders, and climb a ladder.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product) and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Must also be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • An indoor work environment with occasional exposure to outside temperatures.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
