About the Role
Provides screening and diagnostic mammography and breast sonography for interpretation by radiologists. If the primary job assignment includes special procedures, assists the radiologist in the performance of needle localizations and biopsies and provides patient care essential to radiological procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection. Assists in general radiographic and office duties as needed.
If the primary job assignment is on the mammography van, is able to drive the mobile unit to different sites throughout Mercy East Communities.
Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography and breast sonography
- Assist radiologists in needle localizations and biopsies (if applicable)
- Provide patient care essential to radiological procedures
- Apply principles of radiation protection
- Assist in general radiographic and office duties as needed
- Drive the mobile mammography van to various sites (if applicable)
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Radiological Technology program
- State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Certified by the ARRT
- R.T(M) + R.T. (BS) or RDMS (BR) certification, or obtains certification in mammography (Breast Ultrasound Certification)
- Skills, knowledge, and abilities in Breast Biopsy and Needle Localization procedures
