Acute Care Technician II - Med Surg Ortho/Neuro
About the role
The Orthopedic Surgery Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital is a 21-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from a wide range of orthopedic procedures. This unit has earned the esteemed Gold Seal Certification from The Joint Commission as an Orthopedic Center of Excellence for all total joint surgeries due to its high performance and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic patient care under RN supervision; completes assigned tasks accurately and on time.
- Maintains competency in required skills and seeks clarification when needed.
- Ensures a safe environment; reports hazards, follows infection control, and adheres to safety/emergency procedures.
- Communicates respectfully and professionally with patients, families, and staff; collaborates effectively with the healthcare team.
- Demonstrates accountability, supports organizational changes, and engages in ongoing self-development.
- Manages supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions and ensuring readiness for the next user.
Requirements
- 2 years High School Education
- Age 17 with work permit
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
- Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred
Qualifications
Must have the interpersonal skill to communicate with respect and compassion to customers. This position also communicates information through various telecommunication devices and assists in coordinating patient flow.
Skills
Interpersonal communication, customer service, teamwork, documentation, supply management, and basic patient care skills.

Schedule
Part Time Days - (48 hours bi-weekly) 6:30am - 7:00pm Every 3rd weekend rotation Holiday rotation
