About the role
We seek a talented actuary to join the Voluntary Benefits Pricing Strategy team. In this role, you will focus on custom pricing and analysis for Elective Voluntary Benefits (EVB) products (including Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Disability, and Life Products). You will collaborate with senior actuaries and leaders across actuarial teams, as well as underwriting, sales, and finance. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach.
Responsibilities
- Large case custom pricing strategy, including review of quoting performance metrics.
- Provide thought leadership and support strategic initiatives by leading projects that improve pricing/underwriting accuracy, competitiveness, and efficiency.
- Support business lines' product development and pricing needs.
- Help develop approaches to handle voluntary benefit strategies.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders (sales, underwriting, compliance, and finance) to ensure pricing strategy success.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance and streamline processes.
- Provide coaching and learning guidance to less experienced student actuaries as a mentor.
- Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
- Monitor developments in actuarial techniques, standards, assumptions, legal, and regulatory environments; review and recommend changes to company policy and practices accordingly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in mathematics, actuarial science, business, or a related field. (MBA or advanced degree a plus)
- ASA certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in an actuarial role.
- Experience with creation of pricing strategy for large product lines in Supplemental Health, Disability, or Life products (highly preferred).
- Advanced skills in Excel & VBA (required).
- Experience with SQL, Power BI (dashboard creation), and GGY Axis (a plus).
- Prior experience working with underwriting and sales teams (preferred).

Pay
This role may be filled at the following levels based on experience:
- Actuary: 5+ years of experience. Compensation range: $131,750 - $192,500.
- Actuarial Associate III: 3+ years of experience. Compensation range: $94,500 - $138,500.
The actual compensation will be based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data. Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to program rules, and any award depends on individual and organizational performance.
