Milliman’s Minneapolis Health and Life Practice is seeking an FSA with extensive experience in Medicare Advantage and general experience providing health actuarial support for risk-bearing entities in the United States across multiple lines of business. The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of analysts are also necessary for success.

The Minneapolis Health and Life practice specializes in providing actuarial and risk management support to clients in the healthcare and life industries, with a team of professionals ranging from actuaries to clinicians, technology specialists, and plan administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Medicare Advantage forecasting and bids
  • Present results and participate in strategic discussions with clients
  • Provide strategic guidance to health plans, provider systems, and other stakeholders on the impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act and other regulatory and market forces affecting Medicare Advantage and other lines of business
  • Design and direct analysis of healthcare data
  • Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Manage projects through completion within budget and timeframe
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and the strategic direction of the practice
  • Develop business at new and existing clients
  • Supervise actuarial students, actuaries, and data analysts in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects

The successful applicant will be expected to rapidly develop the ability to manage client relationships independently. Employees who successfully generate new business with both new and existing clients are likely to experience the greatest career growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • FSA designation
  • 20+ years’ experience in the actuarial field
  • At least 5 years of health actuarial consulting experience
  • Experience preparing and certifying Medicare Advantage bids
  • Experience managing actuarial teams

The Minneapolis Health and Life practice is composed of healthcare and long-term care insurance professionals who provide industry-leading consulting services. Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Eden Prairie, Minnesota on a weekly basis, though flexible work arrangements will be considered.

Pay

The overall range for this role is $132,100 - $238,400. Compensation will be determined based on factors such as education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, and certifications.
