Actuarial Intern
About the role
WoodmenLife is looking for an Actuarial Intern to assist with a variety of actuarial functions, providing support to help the Actuarial division meet daily objectives. This 10-week Summer Internship Program offers exposure to planning, execution, and evaluation stages of work projects, providing real-world experience in the insurance industry and Actuarial field. The program fosters a dynamic and innovative work environment, integrating interns who bring fresh perspectives and contribute to value-added work while enhancing the talent pipeline.

Responsibilities
- Performs work related to life insurance and annuity Product Development, Inforce Management, or Valuation, as assigned by management.
- Gains broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.
- Summarizes and presents a capstone presentation of the internship experience, including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.
Project Description
Projects are sourced across the Product Development, Inforce Management, and Valuation Teams and will be solidified closer to the internship. Past projects have included illustration support, process improvements, PAS conversion support, data warehouse support, migration and enhancement of extracts and code, and competitive analysis.
Requirements
- Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college with a major in Actuarial Science.
- Working toward ASA certification, with at least one SOA exam completed.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
- Exposure to programming solutions, such as Python, R, VB, SQL, or comparable language.
- Demonstrates seamless, trustworthy, attentive, and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.
- Passion for making an impact in local communities.
