About the Role

Join our dynamic team as an Actuarial Intern to work on actuarial, underwriting, and business analytics projects. This part-time internship program has an anticipated duration of 3 to 6 months and offers valuable hands-on experience in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in actuarial, underwriting, or business analytics projects, which may include claim reserving, pricing, underwriting, forecasting, rate or system testing, analysis of provider reimbursement, data analytics, or data visualization.
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks, ranging from routine work to complex, multi-step projects, depending on department workload, priorities, and your strengths and skillset.
  • Conduct detailed calculations and independently solve complex problems.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college; math, actuarial, quantitative, or business degree preferred.
  • A passing score on 1 or more SOA exams is preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated with a strong interest in learning new skills and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role, working from both home and in-office environments. Any home office must meet organizational guidelines.
  • Regular in-person meetings required, frequency determined by management.
  • General office working conditions, which may require sitting for extended periods.

Physical and Other Demands

  • Ability to focus on distant and near objects clearly.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, feel, and reach, as well as operate a personal computer.
