Responsibilities
- Data Aggregation & Manipulation: Extract, clean, and validate high-volume historical claims and premium data from relational databases using SQL and Excel to prepare datasets for actuarial review.
- Loss Reserving & Trend Analysis: Assist in calculating the company's financial reserves—ensuring the firm has enough capital set aside to pay out future claims—by analyzing historical loss development patterns.
- Rate-Making & Pricing Support: Support the development of predictive models to determine appropriate premium rates for new and existing insurance policies, ensuring alignment with corporate profitability goals.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Assist in preparing state regulatory filings, financial statements, and compliance reports, ensuring our insurance products adhere to strict state and federal financial mandates.
- Cross-Functional Strategy Collaboration: Provide data-driven insights and statistical support to Underwriting, Claims, and Product Management teams to help optimize risk selection.
Qualifications
- Education & Domain Literacy: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a heavily quantitative discipline with a strong GPA.
- Actuarial Professional Progress: Passing score on at least one professional actuarial exam (such as Exam P/Probability or Exam FM/Financial Mathematics) is highly preferred, with a strong commitment to pursuing full professional credentials (ASA/FSA or ACAS/FCAS).
- Advanced Excel & Analytical Tooling: Exceptional mastery of Microsoft Excel (macros, complex formulas, index/match). Foundational coding exposure to SQL, R, Python, or SAS for data manipulation is a massive competitive advantage.
- Intellectual Curiosity & Logic: A methodical, highly analytical approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for identifying data anomalies and systemic financial trends.
- Communication Polish: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex mathematical models and statistical findings to non-technical business partners.
Pay
Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 base structure + Automatic Exam Raise Increments, Performance Bonus, & Comprehensive Corporate Benefits.
