Activity Therapist Psychiatric (Fulltime)

About the role

The Activity Therapist Psychiatric serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult, adolescent, or child patients under HBHH care for emotional or substance abuse problems. They develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team, demonstrating sound application of AT Theory and methodology, and contributing effectively to discharge planning.

• Demonstrates sound application of AT Theory and methodology.
• Contributes effectively to discharge planning.
• Plans and prepares for activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy required).
• Certification or registration preferred.
• Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
• Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; teaching or training skills helpful; understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM 5 -TR methodology.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare field. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• CTRS, TRS/TXC, MT-BC, ATR, LOTR.
• CPR (upon completion in Orientation or have a current CPR).
• Hospital de-escalation certification (upon completion in Orientation).

Physical Requirements

• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
• Includes variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
