Responsibilities

• Assist with direct client care by planning, organizing, and leading recreation programs
• Assess client leisure needs and develop behavioral treatment plans, goals, and interventions
• Work with administrative, social work, nursing, psychology, and therapy teams to ensure recreation is well-balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services
• Attend and participate in treatment team meetings and select therapeutic groups when program schedule permits
• Establish relationships with all community agencies providing recreation therapy services
• Initiate, organize, and conduct the recreation therapy treatment program, including leisure education, aerobics, creative expression, and special events such as birthdays, holidays, and graduation parties
• Develop a weekly schedule of planned client activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification required
• Experience in an inpatient setting preferred
• Ability to communicate in English
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Must pass background and drug test screenings
