Activity Manager/Assistant Activity Manager - Teen Centers

About the role

The City of San Ramon is seeking enthusiastic and experienced staff to work at the Middle School Teen Centers. Staff members help plan fun weekly activities for middle schoolers and assist with homework.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a supervisor and leader for program participants.
• Facilitate and implement recreation activities according to a prepared curriculum.
• Maintain a safe program environment and facility.
• Handle emergencies or extraordinary situations by notifying the proper authority or responder.
• Communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills while interacting with program participants, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
• Provide reliable and dependable assistance to the assigned program areas.
• Work independently with minimal direction from supervisory staff.

Requirements

• Must be at least 17 years old by the time of hire.
• At least 500 hours of experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program, or summer camp.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Assistant Activity Manager: At least 500 hours of experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program, or summer camp.
• Activity Manager: At least 750 hours of experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program, sport league, or summer camp.

• Knowledge of common sports, games, and recreation activities appropriate for all ages.
• Youth supervision and leadership techniques.
• Concepts of program risk management and safe work practices.
• Knowledge of Windows-based computer programs and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
