About the role

The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Gulf Pointe Plaza by facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position focuses on promoting physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being through diverse programs tailored to the interests and abilities of individuals in a healthcare setting. The Activity Assistant collaborates closely with the Activity Director to ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and supportive of residents' overall needs. By fostering a positive and stimulating environment, the Activity Assistant helps residents maintain independence, build social connections, and experience joy in their daily lives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of residents.
  • Auxiliary residents in participating safely and confidently in scheduled activities, providing encouragement and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, resident participation, and any observations related to residents' responses to activities.
  • Prepare and organize materials and spaces required for activities, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor residents during activities to ensure safety and intervene promptly if any issues arise.
  • Auxiliary residents to and from activities.
  • Perform one-on-one room visits 3x/week and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Deliver residents’ mail, monthly calendars and other items as needed.

  • Organizational skills to plan and execute a variety of activities while managing time and resources efficiently.
  • Empathy and patience to understand residents' needs and adapt activities to accommodate different abilities and preferences.
  • Problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise during activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Physical stamina and attentiveness to assist residents and maintain a secure environment throughout the activity sessions.
