Job Description

The Life Enrichment Activities Assistant is responsible for supporting and assisting the Life Enrichment Director in designing, creating, initiating, facilitating, and implementing a wide variety of multi-level meaningful recreational and educational programs for our Independent Living (IL), and Assisted Living (AL) neighborhoods. As a Van Driver, you will provide safe transportation services to residents of the community.

  • Develops and implements a monthly program of activities and supplies based on the dimensions of wellness and Harmony signature programs.
  • Leads 6-7 high-quality programs per day.
  • Assists in surveying and interviewing residents to complete the Resident Life Profile and to determine their past and present interests and talents as well as their satisfaction with the community’s programs and activities.
  • Partners and coordinates with the entire program team (i.e. Life Enrichment Director, Health Services Director, and Health Services Assistant) to complete planning forms, organize supplies, plan the calendars, events, and outings for the upcoming month.
  • Develops relationships and connections with residents and families to encourage participation in programs and events and to promote a high level of resident and family satisfaction.
  • Aids in documenting and maintaining all records as required.
  • Aids in organizing and attending resident council meetings.
  • Aids in organizing, maintaining, and staging programming areas and supplies with purpose and neatness.
  • Aids in recruiting, coordinating, and overseeing a robust volunteer program.
  • Aids in promoting programs by preparing and posting daily notices and posters as required.
  • Aids in arranging chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in specified areas for scheduled group or one-on-one activities and returning to normal structure when completed.
  • Aids in resident transportation to get groceries, shopping, leisure activities, and other resident activities. May transport residents to physician appointments occasionally as directed.
  • Aids in off-site outings for residents, providing transportation and safe coordination for participants.
  • Provides van transportation to the residents on a scheduled basis and for special trips sponsored through the activity department.
  • Develops routes and schedules based on resident needs and requests.
  • Maintains appropriate records, including mileage logs, repair logs, trip and expense records.
  • Keeps receipts for expenses and submits them to the Life Enrichment Director.
  • Maintains the van clean inside and out. Ensures routine maintenance and needed repairs are performed in a timely manner.
  • Reports any accidents/incidents to the supervisor and Harmony Senior Services immediately.
  • Aids in activities as assigned.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the department.
  • Attends all required in-services and staff meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or experience; subject to state requirements.
  • Entry level position with 1-3 years experience highly desired.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible, consistent, imaginative, engaging, and a passion for working with seniors.
  • Experience organizing, conducting, and planning programs and activities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be in good physical condition and be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and lift to 50 lbs.
