Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision of residential activities, adventure program activities, proposes, develops and implements plans for enhancing the activities program towards increasing the clinical benefits of the adventure experience with the facility.
  • Collaborates with RA Supervisor to confirm scheduling of RA staff to balance both quality and efficiency of coverage.
  • Oversees adventure and activities program schedule to meet the unique needs of patient population and any unique service groups, based on level of care, balancing both quality and efficiency.
  • Develops relationships with local businesses to collaborate on creating approved activity schedule that matches appropriate level of care of patients at facility.
  • Works with supervisor to create and submit purchase requests on determined basis for approval of weekly activities and events, or needed supplies.
  • Captures and documents all activities and groups.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient, resident, family, visitor, referral source, and all other contacts.

Requirements

  • Must have an understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures.
  • Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
  • Able to pay continual attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with all internal/external interface points.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
  • General familiarity with the budgeting process related to adventure activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage planning, decision making and facilitating process improvements; takes responsibility for activities.
  • Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and or GED Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related social service or Outdoor Education field preferred.
  • Preferred Certified Recreation Therapist.
  • Preferred 2 years of previous adventure program facilitation, residential programming, and work with the co-occurring population.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responders Certification preferred.
