About the role
The Activities Director plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Woodlawn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. This position is vital in planning, organizing, and directing activities that cater to the diverse needs of the facility's residents.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive program of activities for all residents.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the delivery of engaging and meaningful activities.
- Provide support to residents, their families, and volunteers in exploring and pursuing appropriate hobbies and leisure activities.
- Collaborate with the facility leadership team, reporting directly to the facility Administrator.
Requirements
- Practical knowledge of how an Activity Department operates in a nursing facility.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
- Experience in working with volunteers and the ability to organize and develop volunteer programs.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and implementation skills for detailed programs.
- Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year being full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
- Prior completion of a state-approved training course, or willingness to complete such a course within six months of employment.
- At least one of the following certifications: Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist, music therapist, art therapist; Certified activity coordinator by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
