Responsibilities

  • Actively implements life enrichment programs as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs, and interests of each resident.
  • Honors the individual needs and preferences of residents and communicates changes, requests, and interests to the Director of Life Enrichment.
  • Assists residents to and from life enrichment programs and outings as scheduled.
  • Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
  • Assists residents during meals and snacks, encouraging an atmosphere of socialization.
  • Completes appropriate records indicating residents’ attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely manner.
  • Provides input to the assessment and evaluation of residents’ participation when requested.
  • Communicates residents’ concerns and responses to interventions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Supports residents’ individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns, and choices.
  • Assists and works with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Life Enrichment Director.
  • Assists residents with ADL needs that arise during planned activities, such as toileting or eating/drinking.
  • Participates in the long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Preferred: Certified as a Nursing Assistant with 1-year experience.
  • If applicable: Must possess a current chauffeur’s license if operating transportation vehicles and a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoys socializing, has an outgoing and friendly personality.
  • Able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.
