About the role
The Activities Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that residents' interests and well-being are met through planned activities. This position requires a deep understanding of how to manage and develop staff while maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality activity programming to residents.
- Maintain open and trust-building relationships with resident family members.
- Attend care conferences and address resident/family satisfaction survey concerns.
- Act as a community liaison and secure new revenue-generating opportunities.
- Review and maintain all charts, notes, and documentation for compliance.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Committee and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and oversee written plans of care for each resident.
- Ensure all activity progress notes are charted and reflective of services provided.
- Stay updated on licensure, certification, and reimbursement issues.
- Interview, select, and orient new direct reports.
- Evaluate job performance and provide developmental guidance.
- Respond to staff questions and requests for review and approval.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, art therapy, or a related field preferred.
- Current unencumbered designation to practice as a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist preferred.
- Two years experience in a long-term care, hospital, or related healthcare setting required.
- One year supervisory experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in recreation, art therapy, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Two years experience in a long-term care, hospital, or related healthcare setting required. One year supervisory experience preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies as specified by insurance carrier underwriting standards.
