About the Role
Under the direction of the Activities Director, the Activities Assistant participates in the organization, development, and implementation of the facility activity program. This role provides entertainment, inter-communication, socialization, exercise, relaxation, and opportunities for creative and religious expression.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily activity programs to improve quality of life through promotion of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being
- Make daily announcements for R.O., information, weather, resident/staff birthdays, etc.
- Assist with fulfilling the sensory needs of bedridden residents as well as LYFE participants
- Assist in planning the monthly activity calendar and suggest ideas for future planning
- Communicate with Activities Director regarding daily problems, concerns, and issues dealing with resident behavior
- Work with volunteers during activities; orient and supervise volunteers along with the Director
- Document attendance to activities and complete individual participation records
- Attend care plan meetings when assigned
- Document inventory of supplies
- Assist and participate in scheduled outings outside of the facility
- Communicate with organization representatives from the community who visit the facility
- Act as representative of the Department in the absence of the Director
- Attend administrative meetings as designated
- Collaborate with other staff members in conducting events
- Abide by standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan
- Report any malfunctioning equipment or observed hazards to the proper department
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 1 year experience working in a skilled nursing facility environment preferred
- Strong desire to work with the elderly or disabled
- Previous experience in arts/crafts and/or music highly desirable
- Ability to handle emotional and behavioral disturbances
- Ability to be vivacious and patient in interactions with residents
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled
Pay
$16.50 - $17.00 per hour. The base pay range reflects potential base salary; bonuses or other incentives, if applicable, are offered separately pursuant to the relevant program schedule. All offers consider factors such as overall experience, job-related qualifications, location, certifications, and training.
