Activities Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in planning, organizing, and conducting daily recreational and social activities.
• Lead and participate in games, arts and crafts, music programs, exercise groups, special events, and holiday celebrations.
• Encourage resident participation and promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
• Develop meaningful relationships with residents and families to better understand individual interests and preferences.
• Provide one-on-one visits and companionship to residents as needed.
• Assist with transporting residents to and from activities when appropriate.
• Set up, organize, and clean activity areas and equipment before and after events.
• Observe and document resident participation, engagement, and responses to activities.
• Help maintain activity supplies and inventory.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care and programming.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in activities, recreation, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care populations is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities are required.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary.
• An enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate approach to resident care is expected.
• Dependability, flexibility, and professionalism are key traits.
