Job Summary
Yamato Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in promoting socialization, mental stimulation, and physical engagement for residents, especially those in the Memory Care Unit.Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing a monthly activities calendar (in large print) and post it prominently.
- Interview residents and/or family members to identify activity preferences.
- Cook up and assist residents in traveling to activity locations.
- Lead or support group and one-on-one activity sessions.
- Accurately document attendance and progress notes for each resident's participation.
- Observe and report changes in resident behavior, mood, or participation levels to the Activities Director.
- Involvement of residents and families in the planning and execution of activity programs when appropriate.
- Assistance with organizing offsite trips and coordinating transportation.
- Collaboration with other facility departments to ensure activities are carried out smoothly.
- Support for Resident and Family Council meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a Memory Care Unit preferred.
- Certified in Alzheimer's and Dementia care preferred.
- High School Diploma required; coursework in recreation is a plus.
- Completion of a state-approved activity training course is preferred.
- Previous experience in leading recreational activities, including arts & crafts, educational programs, and community outings, is desired.
