Activities Assistant

Job Summary

Firesteel Healthcare Center is seeking an Activities Assistant who can promote interaction among residents, build rapport, and provide various forms of support including friendly visits, sensory stimulation, reality orientation, and assistance with transportation. The ideal candidate should have a kind approach with the elderly, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.

Essential Functions

• Implement group programming that promotes interaction between residents.
• Notifies residents and staff of activity schedules.
• Visits with residents on a one-to-one basis as directed by the Activities Director to provide:
• A friendly visitor.
• Sensory stimulation.
• Reality orientation.
• A means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident’s Activity Plan.
• Selects residents and communicates with nursing personnel for purpose of assistance in transporting residents to and from general activity areas.
• Responsible for general housekeeping duties in Activity areas.
