Active Treatment Coordinator - Caswell Development Center

About the role

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for various health and human services. The Active Treatment Coordinator position supports individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction consistent with state/federal regulations promoting growth and learning in self-care, dining, domestic, communication/socialization, money management, and functional academics.
• Assess skills on an ongoing basis to create an annual evaluation for an assigned caseload using various assessment tools and strategies.
• Develop curriculum, educational activities, and observe and monitor instructional sessions.
• Analyze/interpret responses to instruction (data), document progress/regression in EPIC, and design learning environments that meet learning styles and promote independence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field from an appropriately accredited institution.
• Two years of experience providing professional or direct services (paid or volunteer) in a setting that serves individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required. Preferred skills include knowledge of autism, developmental disabilities, and behavior management strategies, supervisory and management skills, effective communication, cooperative teamwork, problem-solving, and experience with NCVIP, ICF/IID Regulations, EPIC, and DHHS policies and procedures.

Skills

• Knowledge of concepts, practices, and instructional techniques for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavior management strategies.
• Supervisory and management skills, including staff monitoring, instructional competencies, timekeeping abilities, and proven leadership skills.
• Effective communication both oral and written, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Experience in evaluation, instructional techniques, creating instructional objectives and educational activities for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities, Autism, and Severe/Profound Cognitive Disabilities.
