About the role

Sunshine Villa, a part of Merrill Gardens Community, is seeking an Active Living Assistant to support residents in our vibrant community. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with seniors and committed to fostering an environment that values individuality and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Developing Activities: Collaborate with the Active Living Program Director to design and implement activities suitable for residents transitioning from Active Living to Memory Care.
  • Delivering, Leading, or Conducting Program Activities: Effectively lead and conduct various programs and activities.
  • Family Activities: Organize and coordinate at least one family activity per month.
  • Professional Demeanor: Present a professional image that reflects service, goodwill, and genuine interest in residents' needs.
  • Observation and Reporting: Familiarize yourself with residents, observe their abilities, and report any issues or opportunities to appropriate staff.
  • Motivation and Support: Encourage and assist residents in all areas, providing support when needed.
  • Training Participation: Attend and participate in all employer-provided training sessions.
  • Duty Coverage: Assume responsibilities of Activities staff in their absence.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; College degree or equivalent preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement (preferred).
  • Experience in social activity involvement (preferred).
  • Senior living experience (preferred).

  • Accurately maintain all department-related records.
  • Effectively communicate ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize active listening skills when engaging with residents and Team Members.
  • Represent and promote activities and programs as a team member.
  • Organize and manage both information and time effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and assisting with resident care.
  • Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement throughout the workday.

Pay and Schedule

Actual pay rate within the stated pay range is determined based on relevant factors in compliance with state and local wage laws.
