About the role

Martin Luther King, Jr. School (MLK) is an innovative public school where every student learns Mandarin Chinese. The school offers two options for Chinese language study: a sequential Two-Way Immersion program focused on biliteracy in English and Mandarin, or a balance of daily Chinese lessons with other core content. For grades JK–2, classrooms follow two learning strands that merge for English and Chinese instruction in grades 3–5. The program prepares, enriches, and challenges students for success as global citizens and scholars. Students benefit from an expanded learning day (8 hours), providing increased enrichment and more time on core subjects, allowing teachers to set pacing and intensity based on student needs and interests, and offering enhanced enrichment that captures curiosity.
