ACTING DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP

Location: Atlanta, GA (US) – occasional travel up to 10%. Full-time, fixed-term role from September 2026 to April 2027.

About the role

The Acting Director of Development, Health (ADOD) will maintain continuity in CARE’s key health partnership with the AbbVie Foundation while the permanent Director is on parental leave. The ADOD will ramp on before September 2026 and ramp off in April 2027, working under the guidance of the Executive Director of Development, Health. The primary focus is donor stewardship and execution of partnership deliverables.

Proposed level of effort: September (10%), October–March (50% each), April (25%).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate CARE’s proposal for AbbVie’s U.S. grant renewal, due end of Q2 FY 27, acting as liaison across Country Offices, Grants Management, Global Health, Marketing, and US Programs to meet timelines and deliverables.
• Engage externally with AbbVie Foundation stakeholders throughout the renewal process.
• Manage day-to-day partnership needs, including staffing partner calls, tracking follow-ups, planning forward moves, supporting country office program staff, and coordinating internal technical support.
• Prepare for the close-out and spend-down of the current AbbVie US grant, ensuring projects stay on track, final technical narratives and reports (due January 2027) are delivered, and a donor meeting follows the final report.
• Handle ad-hoc partnership needs such as scheduled meetings, (no) cost extension requests, communications approvals, reporting, and meeting facilitation.

Requirements

• Detailed understanding of CARE’s private-sector engagement approach and global health priorities.
• Familiarity with partners’ business, CSR, and philanthropic priorities in the U.S. and internationally.
• Strong project management, external communications, and consensus-building skills.
• Ability to work closely with colleagues and partner representatives globally.
• Excellent relationship management and interpersonal communication, including responsiveness to partner requests and follow-through on deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of CARE’s Health work, grant writing and reporting, and country office operations.

Pay

Annual salary range: $81,083.95 – $113,112.11 (USA Grade F). Starting salaries are based on candidate experience, education, knowledge, skills, and local cost of labor.
