About the role

In this role, you will influence all aspects of acoustics and sound mitigation for mechanical design, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centers. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the various sound mitigation features that our facilities require, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Drive improvement of acoustic design standards and project approaches across the organization.
  • Work with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established acoustic design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Provide high quality acoustic engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with global engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives.
  • Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries.
  • Review all design disciplines to ensure they meet the site acoustic requirements described in our design standards.
  • Oversee and review this work and in other cases perform the work yourself.
  • Ensure that contractors have the information they need to build our data centers the way we expect them to, and that our operations teams are well equipped to operate and maintain them as needed to meet our goals.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including design, construction, commissioning, operations, vendors, and other service providers, as well as local building officials.

Requirements

You will typically be responsible for the preparation of prescriptive designs for building acoustics and mitigation systems. In some cases, you will be expected to prepare or approve performance-based design elements as needed to support our goals.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Experience in commissioning.

Skills

Professional Engineer License.

Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.

Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.

Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Base salary range for this position is listed below:

  • USA, CA, San Francisco - $134,300.00 - $185,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle - $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
